We often teach content without focusing on how a student will learn that content. With blended learning a student’s ability to learn effectively at home is a growing concern. This course will explore the six most effective learning strategies. Unpack what educational neuroscience is telling us about the brain and learning. Match this up with classroom teaching and assessment practices to support students to become capable learners. Learning how to learn is best done through the subject material a student is using. Many schools offer study skills courses but without being embedded into class practice they fail to support improved student outcomes. In a blended learning situation maximising learning potential is crucial to successful learning outcomes.

The Presenter Gráinne Mulcahy. I am a fulltime teacher and 4th year doctoral student in the School of Education TCD. My area of research is educational neuroscience, teaching, learning and assessment. My experience delivering CPD extends over 10 years includes 4 years with Junior Cycle for Teachers, digital tutor, restorative practices tutor and mindfulness education.
