The Flipped Classroom is a pedagogical approach in which traditional, class-based learning is inverted, so that students are introduced to learning material before class. Classroom time is then used to deepen understanding through discussion with peers and problem-solving activities facilitated by teachers.
With a Flipped Classroom approach, students acquire knowledge before class and use class time to deepen learning and develop higher order cognitive skills. They will do so by practicing and applying concepts and ideas through interaction with classmates and their teacher. After the class, students reflect further on feedback from peers and their teacher and use this to deepen their learning.
Participants will have a deeper understanding of:
The theoretical underpinnings and benefits of the flipped classroom
· The different types of existing content available to support the flipped classroom
· How to ethically source and create multimedia content for your own subject
