PDST Data & Chance Workshops
Data and Chance in the World Around Us
* * 2 New Workshops for all Primary Teachers * *
I wonder how many people are online at any one time?
What’s the most common birthday month?
What’s the most commonly purchased item in the supermarket?
How likely is rain tomorrow?
What are your chances of winning the lottery?
Data is all around us. In fact, did you know that Data Analyst is now one of the fastest growing professions? Ensuring our pupils are aware of the potential benefits and drawbacks of creating, using and interpreting data sets and probability is an increasingly important skill in the 21st century.
In these two workshops, we will explore how a classroom culture which values all pupils’ contributions and provides exploration of data and chance through practical problem-solving tasks will ensure all your pupils develop essential statistical literacy skills and become discerning creators and users of data.
