17KEC221 SNA Follow-Up Support Session: Well-being, Self-Care & Resilience

Kildare Education Centre

Date:  Wed 29th March 2017 (4pm-6pm)

Facilitator:  Ann-Marie Ireland

 This 2 hour session is being offered to all Special Needs Assistants who are looking for a follow-up from a well-being and mindfulness course that they may have attended in order to offer ongoing support in this area.  Within this session, there will be mindfulness, self-care and well-being practices offered, along with opportunities for SNAs to connect with each other in terms of offering and receiving support/advice in the area of well-being and emotional health.  We will continue to look at how to use mindfulness and well-being practices in solving daily issues that arise, along with reflecting on your approach and response to every day school-life stressors.

 Please note:  This session is being offered at two different time slots on the same day (4pm-6pm & 7pm-9pm).  Please ensure that you are registering for your preferred choice.

17KEC231 A Workshop for Parents/Caregivers on Ways to Well-Being for Students

Staying standing when the storms come: building emotional resilience for academic achievement.

Young people are living in a world filled with more choice and opportunity than any previous generation. However, this choice and opportunity brings challenges and from time to time unfulfilled expectations for students, which all impacts upon their sense of well-being.

A talk for parents presented by John Doran, a secondary school teacher who has developed the Ways to Well-Being for Students Programme.  John has worked as a teacher in the Patrician Secondary School, Newbridge for over 20 years and is currently a guidance counsellor there. He builds upon his own experience of delivering well-being courses to students.
